Ekiti APC to Governor Fayose: You’re a Pathological Pretender and Liar

Ekit State All Progressives Congress, APC, has described as "tissues of lies and propaganda" a report where Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose allegedly accused his predecessor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi of being after self comfort.

In a statement by APC Publicity Secretary, Taiwo Olatunbosum, the APC said that if there was any governor, past or present after self comfort, "but pretend to be a friend and lover of the masses, it is Mr. Fayose."

Olatunbosun said: "We respect the office of the governor which Dr. Fayemi occupied with grace and candour, but if the current holder of that office chose to denigrate it by lying shamelessly, our party owe it a duty to put things in the right perspective."

He said Fayose who accuses others of preferring self comfort to people’s well being is "a pretender and hypocrite," adding: "This is somebody who bought a N43 million Range Rover vehicle on credit as governor-elect and passed the bill to the state government only for him to deceive the hapless masses with a 1965 Mercedes Benz as official car on his inauguration day!"

On accreditation of courses at Ekiti State University, EKSU, APC said Fayose's comment showed that "he either lacks information and proper briefing on the transformation that took place there under Dr. Fayemi or he is simply mischievous," adding that it was under Fayemi that 52 out of 67 courses were accredited for the first time in the 32 years existence of the institution.

He added that Fayemi was also the first governor to have released N400 million capital grants to EKSU since its existence, thus facilitating the unprecedented accreditation of courses.

The APC said that attempts by Fayose to rewrite history will fail because his past antecedents as a master of stunts and pathological pretender will continue to hunt him as it is doing now.

Saying that Fayemi's achievements are there for all to see and no amount of bad blood and hagiography can erase it, Olatunbosun said that it is not by prostrating and weeping before teachers that ensures their welfare but by lasting welfare packages and institutional reforms, which Fayemi put in place.

He added that education improved considerably under the Fayemi administration, as Ekiti won the best secondary school teacher and second best primary school teacher in Nigeria in 2013, while performance in external examinations improved from 24 to 53 percent, adding that Ekiti had the second results in WAEC in South-West and was 12th in the federation in 2014.

He also berated Fayose over his lies about "nonexistent N50 million naira beds in the Government House, when he knows there is no bed that is costlier than N2 million in that lodge," and challenged him "to release independently verifiable documentary evidence to proof us wrong".

APC also added the contrary to Fayose’s claims, the cost of the Government House, which it described as monumental legacy bequeathed to Ekiti by the Fayemi administration, cost less than N2 billion naira, saying: "No wonder Governor Fayose now sleeps and works from the same Government House that he has condemned. What a man lacking in integrity! Whether Governor Fayose likes it or not, Ekiti will forever be grateful for the monument."
