Akoko Labour Party Declares for Peoples Democratic Party

Labour Party members in Akoko North- East/ North-West federal constituency of Ondo State yesterday formally declared for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Leading the people into the PDP, the lawmaker representing the constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Ganny Dauda, said the defection was tagged "Akoko North East/North West Decide for PDP".

Dauda disclosed that the entire machinery of the LP in the constituency would be moved, following the defection of the state governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, who was regarded as the leader of the party in the state, to PDP.

He stated that the people of the area decided to join the PDP train following the transformation agenda of President Goodluck Jonathan.

Explaining that the need to be relevant in national politics which he said will usher development to the state was the reason for joining the PDP, he said opposition or sectional politics will elude the state some needed development.

He however said the development will contribute positively to the re-election of Jonathan in line with the resolution of the people of the state.

Dauda, who is a member of the House Committee on Customs, said the movement involved the entire people of the federal constituency, who gave him the mandate to represent them after due consultation.

State Chairman of PDP, Ebenezer Alabi, who led other members of the state executive committee and PDP Elders' Forum to the event, commended the decision of the people to join the winning train, describing their defection as timely.

Alabi said the event has become necessary to save the people from selfish political games that do not serve the interest of the majority.
