Two people, Umaru Yeru, 30 and his accomplice, Abubakar Manu, 24, both of Kura village, via Kosubosu, Kwara State have been arraigned before an Ilorin Magistrate Court for allegedly killing a 12-year-old boy for ritual purposes.The accused persons were arraigned by the Police in Ilorin on a two-count charge of criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide, contrary to Sections 97 and 221 of Penal Code Law.As contained in the Police First Information Report (FIR) it was revealed that on July 13 information was received at Kosubosu Police Station, that the corpse of the deceased, Daneri Abubakar Buba was seen lying on the ground along Fulani Camp, Kura village, via Kosubosu.The document said: "Investigation conducted at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Ilorin, shows that the accused with one Mumini now at large, conspired and killed the 12-year-old deceased by inflicting multiple matchet cuts on his head and scooped his blood for ritual purposes. Some charms used in perpetrating the crime were also recovered from the accused."Meanwhile, the prosecutor, Sergeant Bilikisu Adu, informed the court that the alleged offence was capital in nature and not ordinarily bailable and objected to the bail of the accused urging the court to remand them in prison custody pending the determination of the allegation against them.Magistrate N.K. Ajide therefore agreed with the submission of the prosecutor as he ordered that the accused be remanded at Federal Prison, Oke-Kura, Ilorin, and adjourned the case to Monday, 19th August 2013 for further mention.
