Speaker Of Rivers State Assembly Impeached, New Speaker Elected

The Speaker of Rivers State Assembly Rt. Hon. Otelemaba Amachree has been impeached. A new Speaker (Hon Evans Bipi) has been elected.
This is coming after attempt by five members of the Rivers State House of Assembly to impeach the Speaker was foiled, resulting in a free-for all at the chambers of the House.
In the ensuing fracas, some members of the House, including the Leader, Hon. Chidi Lloyd and Hon. Michael Chinda were injured.
Chinda, who represents Obio/Akpor Constituency, was taken to the intensive care unit of Saint Patricks' Hospital, Port Harcourt.

However, Speaker of the Rivers state House of Assembly, Hon Otelemaba Amachree has dismissed this as untrue allegations, that he had been impeached by five members of the House.

It was reported this morning that five members of the House said to be anti governor Chibuike Amaechi lawmakers pronounced Hon Evans Bipi as Speaker of the assembly. The members at a session in the House said they had impeached the Speaker, Hon Otemeba Amachree.
