Former Barcelona Manager Tito Vilanova Dies At 45

Tito Vilanova, the former Barcelona coach, has died aged 45 after a long battle with cancer.

Vilanova had a tumour removed from his throat in November 2011 before suffering a relapse in December 2012.

He stepped down as Barca boss last July to continue his treatment, with Gerardo Martino taking charge.

Shock As FIFA Hits Barcelona With Lengthy Transfer Ban

Spanish champions, Barcelona, have been given a 14-month transfer ban by Fifa for breaking rules on signing international players under 18.

The Catalan club cannot buy or sell players until the summer of 2015, after the world governing body imposed a transfer ban for the next two windows.

They have also been fined 450,000 Swiss Francs (£305,000).

The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has been sanctioned by Fifa for the same breaches.

According to a source, Diego Maradona has revealed that he is worried that Barcelona will try to turn Neymar into “a bodybuilder”.

There has already been great media focus on the Brazilian’s weight since his arrival at Camp Nou, with the 21-year-old having lost seven kilograms after an operation to have his tonsils removed.

Manchester United Ready To Make Third Bid Of £35 Million For Barcelona’s Cesc Fabregas

Manchester United will further test Barcelona’s resolve to keep Cesc Fabregas by increasing their bid to £35 million for the midfielder.

Having failed with initial offers of £25 million and £30 million, a third approach may finally lure the former Arsenal man to Old Trafford.

Despite public claims that Barcelona has no wish to sell, United has always felt they would get their man eventually as they expect the La  Liga champions to recoup some of the funds they used to sign Brazilian international Neymar for £48.6 million.

Manager David Moyes also appears to be encouraged that Fabregas is keen to make the move back to the Premier League, where he would reunite with his former Arsenal team mate Robin Van Persie.
