Yesterday, a total of 101 aspirants contested the House of Assembly primaries in the 40 constituencies across Lagos State.
Son of the immediate past Minister of State for Defence, Mr. Babajide Obanikoro, emerged Eti-Osa winner of the House of Assembly primaries for Eti-Osa Constituency 2. He scored a total of 18 votes to defeat his rival, Mr. Muyiwa Ariyo, who pulled nine votes. The Returning Officers, Mr. Akinwale Shamsudeen and Miss Raheem Olaide, who supervised the exercise, declared Obanikoro winner of the primaries conducted in a very peaceful atmosphere.Other contestants who took part in the exercise were Moyosore Ogunlewe, son of a former Minister of Works, Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe, Mr. Lekan Fijabi (Mushin constituency 2) and Messrs Babatunde Shonaike (Ibeju Lekki constituency 2). The two aspirants were returned unopposed in their respective constituencies.
The Chairman of the PDP House of Assembly Primaries Committee for Lagos, Mr. Tosin Adeyonju, said "Primaries are elective, but the PDP's constitution recognises consensus too," adding that the aspirants that were returned unopposed would have their tickets ratified by the delegates in their constituencies.
