He said that the gunmen attacked the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, mega filling station on the Gombe-Biu road at 7.20 p.m. with the intent of robbing the station, but failed. He added that two policemen were killed by the robbers while some members of the gang escaped with bullet wounds. Mr. Atajiri said that the police are investigating the incident with a view to finding out where the wounded robbers were being treated. In another development, Mr. Atajiri said that the police had arrested six suspects with locally-made pistols and a vehicle during a raid in a hide-out early Monday morning.
He said that the police also intercepted a vehicle belonging to a Deputy Comptroller of Customs at Ture Balam Village on the Gombe-Yola Road after it was snatched in Yola. He said that the police would not rest on its oars until criminals are flushed out from the state.
