Multiple bomb blasts have been reported today (29 07 13) on New road, Sabon Gari area of Kano State.

The explosions reportedly went off at around 9:05pm as hundreds of people thronged the area in Sabon Gari neighborhood where some were playing snooker and others table tennis.

"There is confusion all over the place. There were four huge explosions, so huge that they shook the whole area. Everywhere is enveloped in smoke and dust," said Chinyere Madu, a fruit vendor.

Resident Kola Oyebanji said "all his windows are shattered", after the four successive blasts.

Report says about 20 people were killed and many wounded from the bomb blasts.

According to eyewitnesses, the multiple explosions hit the area after someone allegedly dropped Improvised Explosive Devices at the joint while hundreds of people were relaxing after breaking the day's Ramadan fast.

"We have had some explosions in Sabon Gari [neighbourhood] this evening," Kano state Police Commissioner Musa Daura confirmed on tonight (Monday, 29 07 2013).
